Fasting Blood Sugar

Fasting blood sugar (FBS) test is a blood test that measures the level of glucose (sugar) in your blood after a period of fasting. The test is usually done in the morning, after you have fasted for at least 8 hours. Fasting blood sugar test is commonly used to diagnose and monitor diabetes, a condition in which the body cannot properly regulate blood sugar levels. The test is also used to screen for pre-diabetes, a condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes.
